To be honest, the Red Angus breed probably found us. Since 2006 we had been running a small commercial herd, when
in 2008 at a Boonah Sale we picked up some Charolais cross heifers. I was so impressed with them that I rang the breeder.
The heifers turned out to be a Charolais\Red Angus cross. Well I decided to do a bit more research into the Red Angus bred and found their qualities were all positive and suited our situation perfectly.
We now solely run Red Angus cattle and we are more than happy with our choice. It is only a very small herd by most standards, but we are happy to keep it that way and focus on quality and continual improvement of our herd. Being a small outfit we feel our herd benefits from more human interaction than those of larger outfits whose cattle tend to get lost in the herd.
Our foundation heifers were sourced from BST Tullatoola, Donna-Lynn and the Jillangalo Studs, arguably 3 of the best studs Red Angus Studs that New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia has to offer and we feel we have a great platform to build from.
We will endeavour to use local and imported semen from high quality bulls to continually improve our herd and its offspring in order to provide quality genetics to our fellow seed stock and commercial producers.
